My 5 month old daughter LOVES her Sophie the Giraffe toy! This toy is absolutely wonderful in every way. Sophie is made of soft rubber and makes a pleasant-sounding squeak whenever any part of her body is squeezed, so even a young baby can elicit a reaction from the toy with minimal effort.
I don't know what it is about Sophie, but whenever my daughter plays with her, she gets very vocal and talkative.
I saw another review which referred to this toy as "a glorified dog toy". That reviewer is mistaken, and simply doesn't realize the value of this toy.
- Sophie's body, while soft, has several areas of thicker rubber (the nubs on her head, her ears, and her feet) which are perfect for teething babies to gnaw on for relief. - Sophie's contrasting colors (spots) are visually stimulating to a baby. - She is easy to grip given her long, thin neck. - This toy is made of 100% natural rubber and uses food-grade paint (SAFE!). - This is a quality baby toy which will last for many years.
I would much rather pay $20 for a safe, engaging toy for my baby, than pay $5 for some piece of junk with lead paint.

My daughter is almost 4 months old and starting to gum to touch everything. She mostly wanted my fingers. I tried a couple other teethers, and she really didn't have much interest. That's when I started researching. I came across Sophie the Giraffe. The reviews were outstanding, so I thought I would give it a shot. I came across this double pack at Amazon that included Sophies cousin (that's what we call her). I am so glad we did. Every time I show her Sophie, she beams! She loves both of them. Pie is a bit smaller than Sophie. I was pleasantly surprised how soft they are. Baby can squeak them with ease. You won't be disappointed. Plus Sophie has been around since 1961. I look forward to buying Emerson more Vulli toys.

My girl LOVES this giraffe. She's 6 months and has been consuming Sophie subsequent to she was about 3 months. She would give anything to bite on her challenge as well! The elastic is soft on her gums unlike the hard plastic teethers and Sophie is malleable so she could probably move and control her effectively. She grins when Sophie squeaks!
The just weakness is that it nearly takes after a puppy toy so our mutts are constantly attentive to where Sophie is for the reason that they simultaneously could love to consume her! Our really forceful chewer did get tightly to her once and she survived so she's one sturdy Giraffe!
Since Sophie gets wet the squeaker will quit working for a time-actually let her dry out and she'll begin squeaking again!
This is our run over to infant shower exhibit now! I'm a bit of a shopaholic and have attempted ALOT of child units out, this is unequivocally our most preferred (thus far)!
